The lion is perhaps one of the most present animals depicted in antiquity. Despite having gone extinct in Europe over 2.500 years ago, lions remain a symbol of greatness, strength and purity to this day.
The ancient republic of Florence made the lion (known as the Marzocco) their official symbol. According to historians, in 1280 a lion kept in a cage near the Baptisery of Florence escaped and found a wandering child, but returned it to its mother unharmed. From then on, lions were believed to bring good fortune and many beautiful fountains, statues and pennants depicting lions remain to this day throughout the city.
This dainty but striking necklace was designed by Cristal embody classical antiquity in all its glory. Emblazoned on the back of this necklace is the Latin word “MAGNANIMITAS”, which means “Greatness of Spirit”.
Pendant, chain and all findings are made entirely of sterling silver that has been dipped in 18K gold. This type of jewelry is know as Gold Vermeil jewelry and provides the quality and longevity of precious metal jewelry at a fraction of the price of solid gold pieces.
All CRISTALORE pendants exceed traditional Gold Vermeil standards (1 micron of gold) and will not tarnish; however the gold will soften in color over time, with some silver shining through certain areas eventually.
Pendant is approximately 2 cm by 2 cm. Chain can be adjusted discreetly from 14" to 15" and again to 16” for the perfect layered look.
